Here is a headlamp you will want to avoid for everyday caving:

The number one flaw with this headlamp, is that when you turn the large dial
to angle the lamp up or down, this causes the cap to the battery
compartment to fall off.
Meaning this light could easily fail on you when you least expect it.
  Not only that,
it doesn't even change the angle the of the lamp. That is some p*ss-poor R&D.

There are 2 work-arounds to resolve this fatal flaw. One is, you
could use this
headlamp as the world's most expensive disposable headlamp, by sealing
the threads
with thread-locker.

The other solution would be to epoxy the rotating part so that it no
longer rotates, meaning
you are stuck with the angle of the light. The most practical of
the 2 choices.

The other problem with the light is the high cost. REI stocks it
for $ 130, plus tax.

I would recommend to REI, or anyone else, to not carry this product.

And the final problem is the plastic frame. Only the lens, switch
and battery cap are aluminum.

Now, after all of that, I would like to point out what Surefire did
right. The light adjustment
works fantastic. Unfortunately, this makes the lamp only water
resistant, as the adjuster has
to have some free-play.

Also the lamp for its weight is the very bright.

One could use this lamp as a back-up, by mounting it to the side of their
primary headlamp. I would saw off part of the base and epoxy the rotating
part, so that it can't fall apart. But, other lamps may be better
suited for that.

In summary,

If you are not concerned about adjusting the angle of the light, and
like CR123A lithium
batteries, and don't mind spending $ 135 on a headlamp, then you might
like the way this
lamp manages its light output.
