Amen! If you ever walk over the bridge from Del Rio to Ciudad Acuna, you
get a good look at the very wide Rio Grande on the upstream side. In
normal times, while green, the water is very clear and you see tires,
appliances and all manner of junk on the bottom. One guess where most of
it comes from. It is a disgrace for such a beautiful body of water, not
to mention the invisible pollutants. I am very much for effective means
of protecting our border and stopping the illegal entry of aliens but I
don't think that a fence and the proposed installation of hi-tech
security devices is the best solution. Not only is it unsightly but also
takes additional manpower to support it. It would seem to me that a
better solution would be to employ double or triple the number of border
patrol agents and properly equip them. This would create many new jobs
although at taxpayer expense. This also might appease the Mexican
government. Does this make sense or is it over simplification.

Oh good gravy! If anyone has seen the river that flows out of Acunia
(other
side of the dam from lake Amistad) it would be obvious that the
environment
is of no concern to Mexico
