I did some research on this last week. It turns out that the issues of the Texas Caver posted on the Karst Information Portal are a combination of scans of hard copies made by the Portal team and digital copies made by the editors of the TC. The problems being identified with the TC on the Portal are actually problems with the digital copies made by the editors and also posted on the TSA website.
I've gone through all of the on-line issues and found all of the problems mentioned so far plus a few other small ones. I've contacted the TC editors for those issues to see if revised digital issues can be posted. If that won't be possible, I'll send unbound hard copies to the Portal Team for scanning. Once those are posted on the Portal (and it will likely by delayed to January due to the holidays), I'll send a note to the Texas Caver list and corrected copies can then be copied from the Portal to the TSA website. (It is really number 6, but was labeled number 7 in the issue.) I suspect it was created from a preliminary version of the layout of the issue. Most of the pages in the file bear the wrong page numbers, and they are arranged neither as printed nor according to the erroneous numbers on them. And one photograph in the file is different from the one actually published. I have prepared a new file for that issue, using the original file's pages as much as possible, and put it at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26580089/2002-v048-007.pdf There remain a few unimportant differences between my file and the published issue, such as a couple of pages in the file that are in color but were printed black-and-white and at least one typo that was corrected before final printing. I hope this will be the last of sorting out the old Texas Caver files. I've gone over them all twice now, searching for new Mexican cave maps for the AMCS web site and compiling a bibliography of articles about Mexican caving.--Mixon ---------------------------------------- Certainly the game is rigged: If you don't bet, you can't win. ---------------------------------------- You may "reply" to the address this message (unless it's a TexasCavers list post) came from, but for long-term use, save: Personal: bmi...@alumni.uchicago.edu AMCS: a...@mexicancaves.org or sa...@mexicancaves.org _______________________________________________ Texascavers mailing list | http://texascavers.com Texascavers@texascavers.com | Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/texascavers@texascavers.com/ http://lists.texascavers.com/listinfo/texascavers _______________________________________________ Texascavers mailing list | http://texascavers.com Texascavers@texascavers.com | Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/texascavers@texascavers.com/ http://lists.texascavers.com/listinfo/texascavers
