His article about a one way trip to Mars was published all over the place and 
much discussed. 

Jim was an incredibly interesting person. He was the first Houston caver I met. 
He rode with me to my first TCR and it was the greatest road trip as Jim 
regaled me with tales of his adventures caving. I'm going to miss him a lot.
