The Gnu system is meant to make sure that the parts fit well together.
Particularly with regard to

usability of programs with each other.

Currently one can latex files, but this has a serious prblom when one wants to
simply import

a few equations from another file.  It wauld be valuable to be able to copy and
paste equations

written in tex or latex from emacs to texmacs. Then have texmacs convert to the
appropriate

texmacs display.

Example:

Suppose I want to import the following tex equation from emacs into texmacs

$$ \displaystyle \psi
= \pi^{-1/4} e^{-{t^2 / 2}} (e^{i \xi_0 t} - e^{-\xi_0^2 / 2}) $$
