*Friends, I'm posting the submission and write-up made by my friend N Ramakrishnan, an Environmentalist at Chennai, in his e-affidavit to supreme court today in its hearing on the perceived oxygen shortage in the country. Ramakrishnan is a Chemical Engineer from PSG College of Engineering and is also Vice President - Technology Development at EID Parry. Please read through this fully and circulate this to the maximum for the sheer truth on the position of oxygen availability across the country.* 23.4.21 *Is there a shortage of Oxygen* Note : The following message is not for school dropouts like Kamal haasan as there are some basic calculations which they cannot understand. Well, The whole opposition is using the corona pandemic as an opportunity to hit at PM Modi and claim that the BJP government has failed in controlling the spread. When the whole world is suffering due to the pandemic all the opposition parties instead of supporring the government behave in a very obscene and Vulgar manner to take a political mileage. It is a war like situation now and the arm chair comments of the opposition not only expose the sick mind set of politicians but also the *mob mentality of the educated and the elite in our society which is called *Sheep mentality*. These peoole are the vultures sitting near the dead bodies. Why do I say so. Now there is a big hue and cry everywhere that there is a shortage of oxygen and Modi government had failed to meet the demand of oxygen. The media plays a big role in blowing the issue out of proportion . Shall we do a small calculation to check whether there is really a shortage of oxygen or it is a media and political hype. Well, when we say "Oxygen" supplied, it is *NOT PURE OXYGEN* that is administered to a corona patient. If one has atleast passed class 9, one will know that the atmospheric air has 21% oxygen and 79% Nitrogen and this referred in terms of Volume like liters and kiloliters. Ok. What is given to patients is nothing but *AIR ENRICHED TO 22 % OXYGEN*. Understood?? What is the value of this additional oxygen in kilograms that increases the oxygen concentration from 21% to 22 %.in air Let us calculate. The calculations start with the knowledge on the weight of air per liter or per KL. The weight of air will be about 1.25 grams / liter or 1.25 kg / Kiloliter. How big is the volume of one Kiloliter? One kiloliter is equal to a small tank where one person can sit and take bath. It will be a tank having length x breadth x height of 1 meter x 1 meter x 1 meter. Imagine a bath tub and that will be about 1 kiloliter. If one fills up a one kiloliter tank with water, one needs 1000 kg of water. The above calculation shows that the density of air is 1.25 kg / KL while the density of water is 1000 kg/KL and air is about 1000 times lighter than water. Now let us calculate the Oxygen needed per patient per day and anyone can check this number with doctors. On an average a patient needs *10 liters / min of this *ENRICHED AIR* This is equal to 14400 liters of air per patient per day. For ease of calculation we will make it 15000 liters per patient per day. As air already has 21 % Oxygen we will check how much oxygen is needed to increase the oxygen content to 22%. This is again class 5 maths. 21%,Oxygen in 15000 liters of air = 15000 x 21/100 = 3150 liter 22%,Oxygen in 15000 liters of air = 15000x 22/100= 3300 liter. Extra oxygen needed = 3300 lit -- 3150 lit =150 lit. This is about 213 grams or 0.21 kg. In otherwords a patient needs only 0.210 kg of Pure oxygen per patient per day. The already available medical oxygen capaity in the state is 250 tons / day. This is sufficient for 12 lakh people. The number of corona patients as on today is 89428 or close to 1lakh patients. *GUYS WHAT ARE WE TALKING.*..... When the availabiliy of Oxygen is for 12 lakh people in the state and the patients are only 1 lakh, where is the shortage....... Are these politicians and media have gone nuts? Industries like Sterlite can make 1000 mtpd of Oxygen from air and this is the condition in each state. All the major corporates from each state are now willing to supply pure oxygen to people anywhere between 200 tpd to 1000 tpd at *FREE OF COST* , Now just think who supports the nation during a crisis and *who are patriots ........The Corporates who are wiling to assit people or Arm chair opposition politicians* ..... Hello all..... Just think ...... Who caused this second wave? The ruling BJP or the dirty opposition? When Government was tightly balancing the *life and livelihood* situation, the opposition pressed for livelihood and the government obliged. But the people did not listen to government and showed indiscipline. If you have understood the calculations then blame the people for the second wave. *Sue the Opposituon Politicians and the media, which spreads lies and feel ashamed if you believe the lies* Finally, Challenge the calculations if you can.
