CROWS AND ANTS

Since I wake up early on most ofthe days in the morning in this summer, I could
see crows waiting for biscuitbits on the close EB wire near to my home. Some
drink water from the cup filledwith water and kept, and wait on the pillar of
the gate for biscuit bits. Most do not move at all whilebiscuit bits are
provided in the pillar. Some days I could hearcrows crowing, again requesting
for more biscuit bits.

I have specifically observed inthis week  crows coming with their kids-What a
beauty to see the tiny crows less than six inches in length and about 2 inches
diameter in the middle of thebody. They appear in a colour between Black and
grey.  Probably I am seeing small crows now.Initially my wife felt they could
be doves. After seeing them turning our sideshe too felt – Kuttikutti kakka…

Probably being too small, they maynot fly more, sit where they are and move
round about. The most important Icould hear crowing by a few crows together in
the early morning by about 5 AMcertain days. After crowing for about three
minutes they would   stop.  I felt it could be a practice to wakeup kids?

Most important – The crows two or three have made it a practice tocome in the
evening also. Once I started giving salt biscuits, the sweetbiscuits were felt
secondary to them.

I have observed if there is oneor two ants nearby, thecrows do not touch the
piece of biscuit. I think even after havingsuch a strong beak, the tongue could
be sensitive even to a single antbite.  It was a new observation to me.  Left
out biscuit bits were partially eaten byants. Two or three biscuit bits may be
too much to them.  I could not find any crow touching biscuitsleft out after
partially eaten by ants.    Is it a decorum, crow would nottouch an item, ant
has touched?

Regarding ants- While some of the ants sting rare, some would bite   strongly.
Those coming to sugar tin and milknever bite strongly.

Those who have not read about winning in Marathon race by antscan experience it
harming the anthill. (Tiny sand heaps appearing anywhere). Even it could be
near outer walls). Ifyou unknowingly touch and leave in a second, you would
observe they haveclimbed to your chestand thighs, leave alone feet, every where
biting. By pouring water over the nest theymay temporarily disburse somewhere
near, after some time again they would bethere. Using a wet cloth and wiping
could be a method to remove from the body. Some times if pain by biting is more
oil is applied.  In Malayalam we say the ant hill as erumbu Kootu.

Nisiru in the mango tree is a via mediam ant. It would bite but pain would be
less. Those who haveclimbed using ladders to pluck   pepper seeds from the
creeper supported onmango tree would have experienced it’s bite. The speciality
with the gentle manis he is royal. He would neverbe in the ground. Only in
trees like mango tree, sometime withoutcreeping pepper plant.  Moreover he
isbigger in size to keep royalty.

The black ants could appear everywhere.Even with in well cleaned houses. Their
biting  could be very paining and sometimes blood wouldbe oozing. In the
Parasurama- Karna episode, Parasurama was relaxing on the lapof Karna inside
the area for teaching marital arts while a black ant bite Karnain his thigh. He
withstood the pain being born to a kshthriya girl/women.

I cannot remain withoutmentioning the word “kakka” used with respect to mention
Muslim men. Ekakka isrespectfully used to call an elder. Kakka is used to
mention the community/subcommunity   too with respect in my home.

Recently in an interview by aMuslim anchor, the actress disturbed by the
question of the interviewer desiringto divert topic said- Ekkakkaverae
entengilum chothikku (Brother, you ask on something else)
