Q1         What are some amazing facts or storiessurrounding the Thiruchendur
Murugan Temple?

A1          Jayanthy Parthiban April11 A devotee of Lord Muruga/Subramanya Swamy

It's indeed a great privilege and blessing to write about the glories ofthe
absolutely divine spot - Thiruchendur.

Thiruchendur Murugan Temple is avery special, very unique temple due to several
reasons, which I don't think I can cover in one answer, evenif I write just one
sentence about each speciality.

The very fact that SriAdishankaracharya has written “Subrahmanya Bhujangam”,
consisting of 33 verses eulogising Subrahmanya Swamy of Thiruchendur
bearstestimony to the same.

Acharya blissfully emphasizes how the calamities of devotees ofThiruchendur
Shanmukha disappear like how waves of the ocean disappear, merginginto the
ocean.

And how He helps His devotees cross the ocean of samsara to reach HisLotus Feet

Thiruchendur is considered tobe the second among the six divine abodes of God
Muruga.

Swamy is celebrated, worshipped and loved here as “Jayantinathar”,meaning “God
of victory”.

The puranic name of Thiruchendurwas “Thirujayanthipuram”.

Tiruchendil, Jayanthipuram, Thiruchilavay and Srisandhinagaram are theother
names of Thiruchendur.

Etymology:

Thiru + Jayanthi+ puram could have become transformed to Thiru + chenth + oor

Thiru (Divine) +Chendur (red pigmented soil), caused by the severe bloodshed
during war betweendivine and evil forces.

Thiruchendur marks the victory of good over evil, by Subrahmanya Swamy. He
vanquished an entire clan of asuras, headed by Surapadman (symbolizing ego).

The divine forces are believed to have set up a military camp here, fromwhere
they fought against the asura clan.

The temple here is the only oneamong the six divine abodes dedicated to God
Muruga, which is not on a hillock, but on a sea shore.

The temple which is believed tohave been constructed by Devashilpi Vishwakarma
(as per Skandapurana) was in adilapidated condition over two thousand years
ago. It was reconstructed by the efforts of three greatsaints/Siddha purushas
namely

Kasi Swamigal Mouna Swamigal and Arumuga Swamigal

The samadhis of the threesaints are found in the temple campus. It is believed
that it is important to visit their Samadhis before entering the
sanctumsanctorum of Subrahmanya Swamy, to express one's gratitude.

Subrahmanya Swamy is believed to have installed and worshipped fiveShivalingams
in this place, after He vanquished the asura clan.

The waters of the shore are believed to be powerful as Muruga Himself
isbelieved to have bathed in it after the war

Panchakshara(Namah Shivaya) and Shadakshara (Saravana Bhava) mantras chanted by
Devatas andSages are mixed in it for eternity. (Skandapurana)

Hence bathing in the waters is considered to be a great blessing

Devotees fill water bottles withthe water from the sea and mix it with the
water they bathe at home

The water when sprinkled at homeis believed to remove negative energy.Vasthu
and other obstacles are removed by the divine effects of the water.

There's a mysterious andmiraculous spring/well, called Skanda Pushkarini (Nazhi
kinaru)

It is very closeto the sea, but contains sweet, fresh and pure water. It is
surrounded by muddy, salty water around

It is believed to have beencreated by God Muruga Himself with His Vel, to
quench the thirst of Hiswarriors during the war.

Devotees bathe or sprinkle this water on their heads, after bathing inthe sea.

The water level doesn't godown, despite thousands drawing water from it every
day since ages.

Patra-bhuti (sacred ash placed on panneer leaf) prasad that is given tothe
devotees in the temple is believed to have miraculous medicinal properties.

Sri Adishankaracharya has made aspecial mention about this in His Subrahmanya
Bhujangam

It's documentedthat Shankaracharya as well as Maharishi Vishwamitra have been
relieved fromhealth issues by the miraculous Patra-bhuti.

There's a mysterious wall on the Eastern side, close to the shore, with ahole

One can hear the sound of the waves through the hole .When one focuses with
devotionwhile hearing it for some time, the sound of the waves is replaced by
the soundof OM. It's believed to be chanted by Bhagwan Subrahmanya, like
aninitiation/ Upadesha of Pranava mantra

When a person bows down(Namaskaram) to the wall, his familial problems are
believed to vanish in thinair.

An attempt to remove the idols from the temple by Dutch East IndiaCompany in
17th century is believed to have been successfully thwarted by thedivine
intervention of God Muruga Himself

In 2004 Tsunami destruction,Thiruchendur is believed to have been protected by
Subrahmanya Swamy fromTsunami waves, when all the surrounding areas were
severely damaged by thegiant waves.

The most surprising fact is that the temple is hardly 50 metres away fromthe
shore.

A board is officially kept in the temple premises “(T)sunamiyai
vendraSubrahmanya Swamy “ (Subrahmanya Swamy, who defeated Tsunami).

The temple abounds with a lot more divine miracles, and I am now leftwith no
more words, except

“Om Saravana Bhava 🙏 🙏 🙏 Haro Hara 🙏 🙏 🙏

Skandarpanam 🙏 🙏 🙏

Q2         If Karna would not be cursed by LordParshuram or even Brahmin, what
would be the result of the Mahabharata War?

A2          Sudharsan Umapathy 11mago Fell in love with Mahabharata

I don't see any change inresults due to that reason. Why?Because, by the time
that Karna was asking to give some time to steady hischariot itself, it
wasclear that Karna got cornered.

Arjuna was a greatest war strategist barring Sri Krishna. He clearly tookout
the support opponents was provided with completely, to make sure Karna wouldn't
have anyother chariot or excess amount of weapons or any help from other
warriors.

Of course, he was exhausted by a long lasting battle with Arjuna. Arjunawas
clever that he checked like that Karna couldn't escape from him. It was the
curses that made death ofKarna in that manner.

Whether Karna was cursed or not is not important. Whether he was on theside of
Dharma was important.

Whatever it happens, Dharma will prevail over it. It's an universal truthand
fact. So does the Mahabharata result. It's a fact that Pandavas (Dharma)would
win the war.

Q4         What are some unsaid rules in medicalcollege?

A4          Deeksha Thu MBBS fromBPS GMC for Women, khanpur kalan,SONIPAT
(Expected 2023)

You should at least know about the wards and blocks of your hospital
cos'patient will see you in white coat and ask you about the particular blocks.
They won't know that it's your 1stday at college.

You are not allowed to give your diagnose even if you are so sure thatit's
common cold.

You are supposed to dress up properly. Mind it you'll be judged on thebasis of
how you dress up.

You are expected to be soft spoken yet clear in your words.

Have a secret?Well keep it to yourself.

Everybody is good in their own skin. Find the one who is good for you.

Friends leave, boyfriends change. Don't worry. That's life. Move on.

Don't mess withsenior or professor until and unless you want any trouble in
your life. Not allof them out there are bad. But you don't know who is?

If a patient asked you something you don't know, leave it there only. Youare a
mere student even doctors fails at some point. Over smartness won't help here.

You won't get a separate time to enjoy. You should know how to manageyour time
at it's best.

Q6         As per Hindu mythology, all the sorrowsand happiness are a result of
our karma in our past life. If it is so, then whydo people pray to God for help
in times of distress, knowing that suffering isimminent and predestined? And
what is the role of God in our life, if he can'thelp us?

A6          Awdhesh Singh 10h ago Authorof "Practising Spiritual Intelligence"

This question reminds me of an interesting story of a smart (stupid) lady
whochallenged the theories of science.

A well-known scientist once gave a public lecture on astronomy. Hedescribed how
the earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbitsaround the
centre of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy.

At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room gotup and
said: "What youhave told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate
supported on the backof a giant turtle."

The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, "What is theturtle
standing on?"

"You're very clever, young man, very clever," said the oldlady. "But
it'sturtles all the way down!"

All the mythologies are the work of fiction, which religious peoplebelieve to
be true.

While all truths stand on their own, all fictions need another fiction tostand
on, and hencemythologies become a bundle of fictions that all sustain each
other, anddestine the blind followers to a bottomless pit of sorrow and misery.

The Indianmythologies are founded on the premise of the immortality of the soul
andrebirth, which itself has no proof or scientific evidence.

If the rebirth saga would have been true, we all would have rememberedour past
lives, but no known human being has been able to prove to thescientific
community that he remembers his past lives, though many fake claimshave been
made in the world.

The theory thatall our joys and sorrow are the result of our past karma of past
lives is justa hypothesis that has no basis whatsoever.

You can never prove such atheory wrong (or right) since you can never find out
what a person has done inthe past lives.

Hence, the believers would continue to believe in such fallacynotwithstanding
any reason which you ascribe.

However, such type of theories suits the lazy and fatalist people who caneasily
ascribe their failures, sorrows and miseries to their past lives andconvince
themselves that they are not responsible for their life.

Such type ofhypothesis also suits the priests, Godmen and astrologers, who
claim to havethe power to change your destiny by pleasing God and thus make
huge moneyfrom such stupid believers.

If you are a rational person and you wish to really solve the problems ofyour
life, you must believe that you are the makers of your own destiny.

Hence, insteadof praying and hoping that God will help you overcome your
sufferings, you mustrely on yourself to solve your own problems.

The only way to solve the problems of life and live a happy, successfuland
peaceful life is to take responsibility for your own life and work hard tosolve
your problems and earn your joy and happiness in the world.
