Dearfriends,

Theseare information compiled as QA by me in 1998’s-2004’s and stored in my
computer. They are posted by learnt members.

Of late repeatedly, Mr Rajaram, questions the authority of theinformation.
>From his statements it appears he only knows all subjects and he is the
ultimateauthority and those who wrote earlier had no knowledge of things. It is
a false prestige, Iam very sad to mention here.

BEING COMPILATION THERE MAY BE  ERRORS.

Sincerely,

Q1 Everybody knowsParasurama to atone sin of killing people gave all the lands
to a sage. Namethe sage? What happened afterwards?

A1 Parasurama, as a mark of atonement for the sin of killing people, albeit
bad, gifted the entire land under him to Sage Kashyapa.

Once the Daana process wascompleted, Kashyapaasked Parasurama to vacate the
place. In order to get a place to stay inpeace, Prasurama created Soorparakam
or Kerala.

Something more in this line. The area created was having no source of fresh
water. Theentire and ground water and surface water available was saline
andhence not fit for human consumptionuse.

Because of this, the people Prasurama imported from the neighbouringareas
(present day TN, AP etc)returned to their native lands.

To retain such people, the onlyoption before Parasurama was to somehow ensure
availablity of potable water inSoorparakam. Tothis end he prayed to Lord Shiva,
and based on his direction, LordVaasuki, who pleased with Parasurama
transferred the salinity to the adjoining Lakshadweep Sea(popularly known as
Arabian Sea).

A2 Sri Nootreteeswarar temple at Chinna Kavanam near Ponneri atChennai-This
several thousand years old Shiva temple has two significances –Ankola tree and
a SwayambuVinayagar

 Ankola Tree:

A 2500 years old Eranzhil tree (called Ankola in Sanskrit) has a
specialsignificance that its seedsare getting attracted to the tree itself like
a magnet.

This tree hasbeen referred in the Sivaananda-lahari.It is stated that there is
a tree calledEru Azhinjil. Its fruit ripens, falls on the ground and
breaksopen. Then the seeds from the fruit, attracted as it were by a sort of
force ofgravity, move and attach themselves to the parent tree. Thereafter it
is saidthat these seeds form part of the latter and disappear from sight

AnkolaGanapathy:_

Here Agasthiar created a lingam everyday with the sand from the nearby
BrahmaAranya river and worshipped them for 108 days.

But on the final day,all the 108 lingams merged themselves into a single
Vinayahar for the simple reason that he did not start the worship with
aVinayahar on day one. Then Lord Shiva gave dharshan to Agasthiar in the form
ofVinayahar.

The 108 lingams which got merged into a Vinayahar is present under theAnkola
tree as a Swayambu (sand) Vinayahar in the name of Ankola Ganapathy.

In spite of many thousands years and in spite of sitting under the treewithout
any roof, the sandmade Vinayahar is still sitting pretty and looking great.

He thereforeasked the architect Vishwakarma to prepare a suitable place for
this purpose. Vishwakarma prepared a magnificentpalace and opposite its south
door he created four pits to punish the wicked

Three otherdoors were reserved for the entrance of the good so that they might
not see theplace of punishment when they went to be judged. Brahma named this
palace SANJEEVANI.

Brahma ordered the architect to form a vast trencharound and fill it with
water, which came to be called VAITAMEE. Brahma next ordered Agni (the fire
god) to enterthis river so that the water might boil. After the death each
