The impression in my mind is as follows:-
The parents have given their daughter in marriage. All parents miss their
daughter's absence. The son has married and brought a girl. She comes in place
of their daughter to give their affection and love.
This is because in Tamil people used to say- AAsthikku oru aanum asaikku oru
pennum.(One son to inherit all types of wealth and one daughter for to show
affection and love.
It is probably because of this, even after many years when the daughter comes,
parents show all affection.
Relation with matu- Oxen are only put to work. Cows are only fed. daughter in
law is only cow.
