But can any one lend me the independent operations of the British raj or 1947 to 1970 freedom to bureaucrats ?; and the independent war-operations of the generals today? Why would one hang his brilliance, before another perverted brilliance in service- heads and politicians uneducated and the business tycoons? Obedience is not governed by the whims and fancies but only to govern by the constitution and the rule book, alone Judges , beauracts and the generals direct services and short service commissions are arranged. I sent my children wantonly abroad only because 98% of them cannot get engineering and medical seats on merit, in a nation where brilliance is burnt, because of a caste? As a civil servant I was able to , why even you, apart from the ancestral wealth, when did we buy our car and home and that too how many we bought and held? Our children earn what we earned in a year in a month; have 2 big cars and 2 to many homes before they reach 30years. Stress is the same whether in India or abroad, but the freedom of existence is greater. We lost our roots but who uprooted it? The regulations were tough,in India only, for the honest and not for the corrupt who sprouted day and night. Honest Railway G M was raided and his image was tarnished. Many civil servants were sent to the Vigilance commissioner and had the timbuktu transfer only because they were honest? Bombay postings were sold, since they were corrupted wholly;'there used to be a joke : every personnel had a play card right in front of his desk with the rates displayed. How many permissions? Except how many times you had sex, all others were to be declared; but the corrupt never filed any of them, till they retired and no one dared to ask them also. . Governance is not tightening the independence. Governance is applying rules as stated in the law. I do remember, when my son's first interview with the USA embassy was rejected ; then I happened to have common friends with the consul .So I went and met him; he is a top official; but one who was rejected was in the lower level; he said in a friendly tone, that they do not interfere in their functions; that is the spirit. Many in this forum may hesitate to speak the truth. So as said in Thirukkural: Nadenba daa valathana............ When the nation changes all will come back. But certainly and proudly I shall declare that 3% Brahmins in the history of future and at all times, CAN NEVER BE SUPPRESSED because VID IS IN THEIR HEADS BY DNAs. Exceptions do not make a rule.
