That is what I also said; Dish cannot get corroded nor LNB unless it is of
bad quality; if water and rain or sunshine can damage, they will no
the used in the open; avoidance of TV in lightning is good because LNB can
be damaged due to lightning as generating signals; I had used so for a
cable, SUN direct, airtel and Jio ; I had removed airtel and Jio; and using
sun direct and cable 2 +2 connections; I avoid using if there is heavy
lightning; and in summer between 12 noon and 2 PM signal will become wavy;
so i will switch to cable; if rain so heavy signal will become shaky so I
switch over to cable; accidentally when I was refixing ny sun direct while
shifting accidentally I gave him Jio dish and connected the sun cable which
is working; the age of dish all the three are >2 decades; our
carelessness of loosely threaded LNB will allow water to seep in; so it is
better to check the cable and dish sturdiness periodically as we ourselves
can see them . Good ones and well connected do not invite any trouble.
LIKELY CAUSES ARE NOT MAIN CAUSES; also many service people named as
Engineers are good for nothing except holding a screwdriver. KR IRS 151023

*Random thoughts Part 2 annexure*

*Dear friends,*

*Yesterday in the posting I had mentioned the replacing of corroded dish of
my D2h TV connection. I like to add a little more details why it was
replaced.*

*I had a Tata play connection in my picture tube Sony TV in guest room. It
was not recharged for about 3 months. Yesterday I recharged it, but new
software was downloaded, and TV receiver showed mismatching with setup
box. So a Tata play technician came on my reporting, he set right
mismatching. Since signals were low, he went to dish, and while he was
tuning for better reception, I asked him whether the corrosion of d2h dish
could affect it’s reception. He said yes, and desired earliest replacement
by d2h.*

* So I called d2h for replacement of the dish. D2h technician came with a
new dish and new receiver and replaced and tuned and in the TV, I could
observe there was great change in picture quality in the TV receiver.*

*Today there was a response from Mr Rajaram, whether microwave reception
from satellite to dish could be affected by corrosion of dish.*

*I just thought making a Google search*

*Showing results for whether corrosion of the TV dish can affect the
reception of signals*

*The dish may be affected by corrosion or rain fade, which amplifies the
effects of these sun outages.* *This is especially likely if your satellite
dish is more than a few years' old and hasn't had its LNB (Low Noise
Blocker) replaced during that time.*

*Does a rusty satellite dish affect the signal?*

*A satellite dish and its LNB need to be in good condition and not rusty**,
bent or broken; this includes the metal rod that holds the LNB. Water can
leak into the LNB if the dish is very old, affecting reception.*

*I thought I may add these details, so that any of my friends may get
benefited, if his dish is corroded, by replacing the same.*
