ANIMAL KINGDOM: Chapter 4.24 - The Gridhra (Vulture) in the Epics
In the Ramayana, the Gridhra has played an important role in the form of
Jatayu and Sampati who helped Lord Rama in his search for Sita. Jatayu
sacrificed his life in his fight with the demon king Ravana who had
abducted Sita.
Sampati says,
tasmadaharaviryena nisargena cavanarah |
ayojanashatatsagradvayampashyamanityashah ||
“Monkeys through the potency of our food and by virtue of our nature are
strong. Vultures can always see to a distance of more than one hundred
yojanas.”[1]
Vultures were hovering in the Ariel region and a large flock of cultures
followed Ravana’s chariot in the Rama-Ravana War.”

There was a vulture on the chariot of the ogre perched facing the south and
it was suggesting ill omen. The brother of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, experienced

Likewise the son of Ravana faced ill omens when he was fighting with Rama’s

wind blew at that time nor did fire burn.” In the Ramayana, the Grdhra is
said to be the son of Shyeni.
The vulture spreading its wings and paws and it is posed as if it is giving
out calls depicted on the flag of Ghatokaca. Another similar bird depicted
on the flag of the demon was called Alanbusha.
In Shantiparva of the Mahabharata, there is a story of a dialogue between
the vulture and the fox. A dead body of a child was brought to the cemetery
for funeral rites. At that time the vulture and the fox were present there.
Both of them tried to fool the relatives of the dead child because both of
them wanted to devour the corpse.
There are actually four kinds of vultures[5]. Vultures are kin to eagles
and also hawks. They have strong wings and fat bodies. They subsist on
flesh and fruits. They are skilled hunters. They have glossy bodies of
various colours and they are sluggish in nature. They breed during the
rainy season. A female vulture starts laying eggs she it reaches the age of
2 years. The young chicks are nurtured and protected by the mother. When
their chicks are born, their eyes remain closed. Slowly the eyes open and
they start growing. They traverse long distances. They like move in flocks.
Some varieties of vultures are terribly scared of water. They make
frightening calls. They descend on the prey with lightning speed and in no
time they finish off the prey. They have great appetites and they eat a
lot. Although they live in flocks they also fight among themselves.

II Vulture in National animal Kingdom: New World vultures lack the
ability to perform songs like many other species of bird. Instead, they are
restricted to simple sounds, such as grunts and hisses.
Although bone forms a vulture’s diet for the most-part, there are some
species that prefer a more rounded diet. Feasting on a variety of nuts,
fish and other birds, both the palm nut vulture and the lappet-faced
vulture do well to defy their haunting stereotypes.
‘Urohydrosis’ is a process in which an animal urinates on itself in order
to cool down when temperatures reach blistering highs. However, vultures
also use this technique as a means to disinfect their legs of bacteria
following a feed on a rotten carcass as their urine possesses high levels
of acid.
As well as their urine, vultures also have extremely strong acids inside
their stomachs. These acids not allow help the birds to fight and destroy
lethal bacteria, but also help to break down the bones of the carcasses
that the birds devour, which contribute between 70-90 per cent of their
overall diet.
Thermals help these birds to reach incredible heights, most of which would
be deadly to other species of birds. A series of cardio-vascular
adaptations means that vultures are able to fly at heights where oxygen
levels are at their thinnest, with one particular Ruppell’s griffon vulture
reaching almost 11.5 kilometres!
As a result of the threats that vultures face, the first Saturday of
September is now dedicated to celebrating International Vulture Awareness
Day. These days are extremely valuable in educating people about the true
nature of these vulnerable animals, whilst allowing them to partake in fun
activities at the same time.

is so simple not grease butter etc unless allergic; Itch is the dominant
symptom of a vast variety of diseases from cutaneous inflammatory
conditions such as atopic dermatitis to systemic, neurologic, and
autoimmune disorders such as hepatic or renal failure, multiple sclerosis,
or celiac disease. Recent studies have indicated that this frequently
ignored symptom can have a major impact on health-related quality of life.
It is recognized that antihistamines are not effective to treat most
itches. These observations have paralleled a much-needed increase of
investigation into the mechanisms underlying both acute and chronic itch
and will ultimately lead to new and effective therapies. Itch has been the
least understood and researched somatosensory modality. This is changing as
the growth of dermatologic and neuroscience-based research in the last
decade has allowed for a better understanding of the neuro- and physio
anatomical bases of itch. The importance of the immune system in mediating
cutaneous and neurogenic inflammation also contributes to itch but is
beyond the scope of this article. By understanding the pathophysiology of
itch, clinicians are better equipped to manage and treat patients with

suction will not start. So in emergency people without brain only attribute
with such words it did not and did later etc. And such will join in

venomous snake could kill them. Rattlesnake do not kill pigs as well as
humans. All snake bites will not kill.

These majestic birds are unique among birds of prey, for they are the only
birds of prey that do not kill. One could call them nature's clean-up crew.
They are the diligent custodians of the wild, meticulously stripping animal
remains to their bare bones. An act considered morbid is a critical
ecological service. Their contribution is nothing but profound.
Vultures possess stomachs with acidity akin to car batteries, a natural
defence that annihilates harmful bacteria and viruses.
In consuming the dead, they starve disease-spreading insects of breeding
grounds, acting as a natural bulwark against the spread of illness.
South Africa alone is home to nine distinct species of these creatures,
ranging in size but united in purpose.
Unfortunately, the narrative surrounding vultures often overlooks their
immense value. Feasting in the dead has given them a bad name.
This misconception, coupled with environmental threats, has led to a
dramatic decline in their numbers.
Indian vultures alone saw a staggering 97% population decrease in just 15
years, primarily due to the toxic effects of diclofenac, a drug used in
livestock that proves lethal to these birds.

A saint visited his old friend after a long time.
He reached his home and saw that he is living a life of poverty. His friend
had two brothers. There was a fruit tree outside his house.
All three brothers used to collect fruits from tree and earn some money by
selling them everyday. This was their only source of their earning to eat
two meals a day.
When Saint reached their home, they did same thing. But that day they
couldn't earn enough money to arrange food for 4 people. Only two person
could eat food.
Two of his brothers denied to eat food by saying that they were not hungry.
Thus, Saint and his friend ate food. Saint was feeling pity for his
friend's condition but he didn't know how to help his friend.
In the middle of the night, he woke up and did one thing. He cut their
fruit tree and left their home. Next day when the three brothers woke up,
they were sad because this was the only means of their earning. Whole
village was saying that Saint was evil.
After few years,
Saint was again passing through his friend's village. So he gathered some
courage to meet him again. He was scared if people would beat him, but
nevertheless decided to visit his friend.

A pregnant deer in the forest was about to give birth to a child. She was
wandering in search of a safe place.
Then she saw high and dense grass on the river bank. She found that
appropriate place to give birth to the baby.
As soon as she reached there, she started suffering pain. At the same time,
the thunder clouds in the sky were hovering and lightning started. It was
about to rain.
When she saw at right side, a hunter was aiming the arrow at her.
Frightened, she turned to the left, then there was a hungry lion, ready to
attack her.
In front, the dry grass caught fire due to lighting in front and there was
a river in back side with plenty of water.
She was caught up from everywhere. She didn't know what to do!
Deer left herself in the void, didn't think of anything else and started
giving birth to her child. Look at the nature of nature.
Suddenly, Heavy lighting dazzled hunter's eyes and he left the arrow due to

Ans : Even in our life, sometimes there are some moments when we are
surrounded by problems from all sides and are unable to take any decision.
Then, by handing everything over to destiny, we should focus on our
responsibility and priority. Ultimately God makes the final decision of
fame, waste, defeat, victory, life, death. We should trust him and honor
his decision.
