Thanks for your suggestion.  QCTray and the associated processes generate a
big file.  I might have found the entries which indicate that QCTray icon is
leaving, but I find no apparent indication of why (even less of how to
change it).   The icon is reinstalled whenever I open Access IBM > Manage
connections > Connection settings -> IBM Access Connections; run its
HKLM/Run startup key; or start it from C:\Program
Files\Thinkpad\ConnectUtilities\QCTRAY.EXE, but mousing over the icon, which
is supposed to show the Profile informational balloon, makes it disappear
instead. Fn+F5 doesn't load QCTray icon unless I open Access Connections
from there. I will continue to try decipher the event log, but because I
have no alternative approach.  I just had two QCTray icons in the systray
(successively opening Access Connections), but mousing over them made both
disappear, and nothing showed up in Process Explorer. Again, thanks for your
suggestion.
