Different model numbers (say 1702 vs. 1705) have next to nothing to do with
hardware, and are mostly associated with warranty entitlements of the
machine-length of initial contract, IWS area applicability etc.
You will be able to swap the hard drives between X60s units in a heartbeat. The
only drivers that may differ are the wireless ones.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
George

Subject: [Thinkpad] X60s Type Numbers
I'm looking for a spare machine to work as backup to an X60s 1705-CTO but
I am finding mostly 1702 machines being offered. Can anyone point me to
any comparisons or explain the differences between 1702/3/4/5 machines?
I need very complete hardware similarity because I will need the ability
to swap the hard drive with the operating system between machines in the
event of a failure of the primary machine.
Thanks
Tony
