Hello,

Microsoft will be releasing Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista and
Server 2008 soon. As part of the preparations, they published a
Microsoft knowledgebase article on problematic software, #969707:

"Programs that are known to experience a loss of functionality
after you install Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista or for
Windows Server 2008"

at their support web site:

        http://support.microsoft.com/kb/969707/en-us

One thing I noticed is that Lenovo System Update is listed in the
"Programs that do not run after you install Service Pack 2" section
of the article.

There is no version number listed, so it would probably be a good
idea to visit Lenovo's web site after you download Vista SP2 but
before you install it to see if a newer version is available.

Right now, there are not many programs listed in the knowledgebase
article, but I expect that to change.

It is probably a good idea to start checking for SP2-compatible
updates for ThinkPad drivers and system software, as well as for
third-party software that uses file system filter drivers, like
anti-virus, backup, imaging, defragmentation and other programs.

Regards,

Aryeh Goretsky
