Hello, I just started running Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition RC1 x64 on my ThinkPad T61p. Driver support seems to be very good, with both power management and the fingerprint reader being recognized. I have been a bit busy at work, though, and not had the chance to do much exploring.
I would imagine the tablet-y bits work on new X-series notebooks; whether or not that translates into compatibility with an X40, though, would be a big question. I would expect any hardware which supports Windows Vista to work with Windows 7, so investigating compatibility there would be a potential first step. I'm thinking of putting it on the X40 Tablet I have laying around that I want my mom to use. I'm presently running it under XP through Microsoft virtual PC and it's substantially faster than Vista.
