Ray,
I have very limited SSD experience but I can say that the Intel 160 GB
X-25M SSD (expensive) that I put into a 17" MacBook Pro runs more
quickly than the delivered 7200 RPM 320 GB hard drive. Things start
very quickly. The Intel is supposed to be up to 250 MB/sec read and
70 MB/sec write (both sustained). The X-25M use MLC flash. There
are both 1.8" and 2.5" versions. They come in 80 or 160. They are
more expensive than the KingSpec.
I've been a long time ThinkPad user but I decided to try a MacBook
Pro to replace my T43p.
So far the Mac and the SSD just work and I prefer OS X to Windows
(either XP or Vista).

Anybody have a better report on the KingSpec SSD from Shenzhen,
China at
$239.89 with free shipping for 64 GB. Two year warranty. IDE LC.
Sustained
Read 65 MB/S Sustained Write 47 MB/S 1.8"
Reports I get are that it is a lot slower than that, but no reports
from
Thinkpad users.
