yes, I've got usb 1-4 ports, and I've checked the HP onto each one. no printing. in system:hardware:device mgr, I uninstalled all the USB drivers, lost my mouse at that point, continued with the joystick, rebooted, windows found USB and installed the drivers, mouse is back, and Device Mgr shows all the USC controllers back in place. still no printing. I'm going back to Best Buy to return the usb-parallel cable, and buy a new USB cable. The current USB cable works fine with Microtek 8700 scanner.
