Is that port DisplayPort? Basically it's not limited to 1600x1200 but isn't
much bigger than HDMI.

More importantly, it's the first digital video connector designed by VESA
instead of various manufacturers and is Royalty-free.

I ordered a T510 from Lenovo Canada, using a 35% off deal
I found at RFD (Red Flag Deals, this is a Canadian bargain
hunter site). Considerable savings can also be made by
taking offers from Lenovo directly, such as "Employee
pricing".

These threads at Bill Morrow's site were reassuring, well
mostly reassuring.

On the Thinkpad forums, T410 reports greatly outnumber
T510 reports.

It was shipped a week ago, but hasn't arrived.

I got the HD+ screen, 1600x900, which struck me as adequate for
15" real estate.

An immediate drawback is that there is no HDMI output. They
have something that they say is better than DVI or HDMI, but so
far I haven't seen any monitors with that kind of a plug. It's
that sort of one-way standard which often doesn't take.
Anyhoo, there's still good old VGA.

Configuration:
Intel Core i5-520M Processor (2.40GHz 3MBL3 1066MHz)
       Genuine Windows 7 Professional 64
       15.6" HD+ AG LED w/WW Ant
       NVIDIA NVS 3100m Graphics 512MB DDR3
       4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 (2 DIMM)
       250GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm4
       DVD Recordable, Ultrabay Enhanced
       9cell, LI Battery TWSL
       Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300
ThinkPlus 3 Year EasyServ Total for 1 Year EasyServ

(I think I ordered Bluetooth too but it doesn't seem to be on
the docket). Total, GST and PST included, about 1,400
Kanookistan royal loonies.

I'm not destroying or selling or retiring my X32 (with XP)
because I expect some issues (but ultimate joy) in going over
to 64-bit Windows.

The unit will take up to 2x4GB = 8 GB RAM, but the 4 GB sticks
remain frightfully expensive. I considered the SSD option but
eventually decided not to go for it.
