Despite the lockup problems with my X300, I've been thinking of an X301 or X302 (if it existed) when it's time to replace. This was disappointing. What other options are listmembers looking at? I guess
 there's the T410S, or something with a 12" screen.

Yes, that's the way it is, unfortunately. There's definitely a gap in
the Lenovo ultraportable line-up, because if you want 1440x900, you
either have to choose an X201s (screen is too small IMO at that
resolution) or go for the T410s (too heavy).

Is there any chance you'll change brands? Apple's been running a lot of ads for the new Macbook Air, which _looks_ nice (as Apple products
tend to do) in the commercial and which starts at $1299.

Incidentally, I bought myself a 13" MacBook Air, and that convinced me
the X301 will be my next Thinkpad (to replace my aging X60s): I could
see the resolution was perfect on a 13" display, even at my age (50).

I think it doesn't have an internal optical drive, but to be honest
it's getting to the point I only use mine to watch movies (I might
want to have an external optical drive but probably wouldn't ever
travel with it). 13.3" model is 2.9lb.

Exactly, who needs a built-in optical drive these days? I know for sure
I'll take the drive out when I receive my X301.

Is there any true alternative to the X301 in a <3lb machine with
13.3" screen?

If not, is everyone going X201 and T410S? Is Lenovo going to fill the
13.3" gap in their ThinkPad line?

Unfortunately, it doesn't look too good.

Cheers, Dominique
