I was referring to the mail.com conversion, but the AOL online help
instructions for setting up AOL / AIM are currently showing only the
imap setup. I found out that mail.com was converting thru the news on
Pop Peeper website. The comment about the Pop3 service was only
referring to Mail.com service not AOL's Pop3. I haven't seen anything
on AOL pop3 service being converted but it could be in the works too;
although not likely, unless they are taking up Microsoft habits.
I was using AOL webmail xpi to access my mail.com box as I was not
able to get the maildotcom xpi to work on my account. Then started
getting the "No new Mail" message. Until the webmail xpi's are backup
and working with both AOL and mail.com; the best setup is to use the
imap service as you can access all your folders not just the Inbox.
If you wish to try access thru AOL pop3 service. As this writing I was
still able to access the AOL pop3 service and was able download my
mail.com Inbox.
(This settings below are from Mozillazine Knowledge Base)
Create a new email account with the following configuration options:
* POP server: pop.aol.com.
* POP login: your AOL screenname.
* POP password: your AOL screenname password.
* POP port: 995.
* SSL required: yes
The smtp settings will be the same as previously given
* Port 587 with no secure connection
* I also found that you can use Smtp port 465 with SSL secure
connection for sending mail.
Since a secure send is Available; I will use it for security reason
here.
