I was not able to get the IMAP settings to work. But I was able to get
the pop3 to work for mail.com

server: pop.aol.com login:[email protected] or what ever use
you for a subsidiary login..

In thunderbird, go to account settings and select ssl/tls (In linux,
its in Edit->Preferences, select the mail.com account and it should be
under server settings tab. Port 995 if you can't find it.

SMTP, I was not able to send off Port 587 off the above comments (off
AOL's site is the same information. Some thing is wrong but I have a
work around. Change ports. :-)

Server smtp.aol.com Login: [email protected] (like you used to
login with the webmail page.)
Port 465 (port 25 may work but I have not tried it.)  This is SSL/TLS
Port 465 that you can set in the Edit -> Preferences SMTP page
(usually at the bottom of the list.)
