Here's what's been working for me for my Mail.Com addresses, running
T'bird under Ubuntu Karmic:
1) Webmail 1.3.4;
2) AOL / Netscape add-on 1.2.13b1. That's not the one on the mozdev
download page (why not?); you've got to get it from the google groups
site - go to the "files" link on the right of the page and get the
zipfile and install it;
3) Once installed in T'Bird, open the AOL / Netscape add-on, and click
on the "domains" link at the top. Add the domain(s) for the Mail.Com
address(es) you use (mine are "mail.com" and "counsellor.com").
4) I restarted T'Bird, but you may not need to do that. Make sure all
the rest of your settings ("localhost", smtp, and all that jazz) are
correct for your setup. It's been working for me for about the past
four days, after not working for quite a while.

My Hotmail address has been working without a problem.
