SOLUTION: I switched to Avast! (FREE anti-virus for Windows version) years ago because of issues with AVG and Webmail running on Windows.

I've never had these kind of conflicts between Webmail running under Thunderbird for Linux and other Linux applications.

Does anyone else have problems sending email using TB webmail and AVG?
When the email scanner is on the main body of the message is not in
the received email. This is affecting all my Webmail Smtp accounts, I
am unable send anything thru Webmail unless it is sent as an
attachment. I don't know if it is a Webmail problem, an AVG problem or
that Webmail simply doesn't work with the AVG software. My regular TB
smtp's has no problem using the AVG software so at least I can still
send my work off to my suppliers.

I am also unable to received large emails with attachments thru the
Hotmail extension unless I turn off AVG resident shield. For now I had
to disable the Hotmail Extension because it no longer works. I am just
forwarding all my received Hotmail email thru the AOL extension. This
is being done at the Hotmail site since they now allow me to forward
to an outside account.

The Webmail author says its a timeout problem on receiving. Strange
that I am unable to receive the emails with AVG on and that I able to
receive the same email thru the AOL and Gmail extensions fine. Hotmail
receives that the same message if I turn off AVG's resident shield.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
