It always required the tick of one box in avast to cause incoming Webmail to be scanned and there were many posts about it (quite a few by me) to be found in their forum. I used avast because it was so much easier to get Webmail scanned in avast than it was in AVG but for a couple of years in the older versions of AVG their was a sticky in their email forum by me explaining how to get Webmail scanned.
