Brian,

I actually typed that option - I cannot see why they cannot be moved
to the "Sent" folder but I thought it so inelegant in that they would
not appear correctly in the Sent folder (they would appear as sent to
the owner of the Hotmail account) that I removed it and posted as I
did.

One other thought has been occurring to me for some time now but it
requires work on the part of the Webmail Author and I cannot say with
any assurance that it is do-able. Given that the free POP/SMTP
functions of Hotmail are available it would be really nice if the
Hotmail add-on had the option to not download from the Inbox but only
to download form the other folders of the Hotmail account. That way
one could set up a Hotmail account in Thunderbird using POP/SMTP or
the solution recommended by Chris and another "dummy" Hotmail account
to use the Hotmail add-on to download from the Junk/Sent and any
custom folders in Hotmail with Thunderbird allowing you to direct
those mails to whatever folder in Thunderbird you want.

When WebDav was available and could be used by the Hotmail add-on I
did have filters set to synchronize messages sent on the Web interface
back to Thunderbird's sent folder - it worked just fine. However now,
as far as I can see, it is not possible to use a filter to detect the
difference between a message sent on the Web interface from one sent
by Thunderbird using the Hotmail add-on (since they are both using the
standard Web interface). Nevertheless, I hope that my suggestion may
be allowed to engage the mind of the Webmail Author for
consideration.
