Assuring priority queueing (always first served) for important traffic (like sync) is ok, we already do that.

Depending on your algorithm, I am not sure how much that helps.

The best timing "edge" is generated by the few packets that do not experience any queuing at all, in which case the high priority queue does not help much, indeed you might be wasting the queue by using it for this.
