Please don't count on hw upgrade to do anything, if it's at all possible to do without HW upgrade and specific protocol support.
Assuring priority queueing (always first served) for important traffic (like sync) is ok, we already do that. As an ISP, demands that require forklift upgrades of tons of equipment to deploy is usually a no-go.
Please if at all possible, make sure that anything being developed can work over hw-forwarding assisted platforms (to keep down jitter) with QoS, even if they're 5-10 years old.
Also, our core network doesn't do MPLS-TP, it does MPLS. MPLS-TP might be used in smaller distribution parts, but it's not a core technology for us. We also want to build one core network, not multiple.
