Thank you for your answers! It's so nice to get a reply by the creator himself. I was testing with only handful of tiddlers so I was unsure how to use it, but your explanation makes total sense. After I fill up my wiki with enough tiddlers I will definitely make a good use of it.

1. Upon installing tocP plugin it creates two buttons - [New child -> "parent: Tiddler"] and [Create a new Child tiddler & add 'parent' field]. As far as I know they do the same thing. Is there any difference between those two buttons?

No. ... Sorry for the confusion. They only have a different image. ... I should probably only ship 1 button with my next version.

2. I've been comparing toc with tags (default method) and fields (tocP method) and the result seem same to me. Could anyone explain what are the advantages of using fields instead of tags to create toc?

The advantage is, that you can use tags for other grouping mechanisms, if you want. ... And you can use different fields to build different / independent structures, if you use ticP

PS I'm the creator of the tocP plugin.
