"patch" instead of "micro"? I think the latter's Autotools only.
This #define is not aimed at matching the naming convention of a
particular build system (but indeed as this logic is driven by our
autoconf system, it inherits a bit from it). I can see other software
(Poppler, libKML) having similar #define using MICRO.
