hmm. x0vncserver starts up at 1024 x 768 but gives me the same black
empty desktop that I was getting using Xvnc and running vncviewer on the
client machine with display :1 . Just one big black-filled window with
the spot cursor. No functionality whatsoever.

I have just found out that the black screen is in fact a minimal
installation of a minimalistic TWM that does NOT respond to mouse . So ,
like I said: No functionality whatsoever.

I did manage to get a "working" TWM by starting the vncviewer at the GDM
login and selection TWM as session. This seems to work as far as it goes
and I could log out from TWM.

So x0 does get a different screen size but still incorrectly , it should
be 1366 x 768.

Are both programs perhaps working from a preconceived list of screen
geometries and trying to guess a nearest fit to this somewhat unusual size?

If nothing else, all this should provide you with some test cases that
don't seem to have been investigated yet.

regrards.
