I agree and have prepared the server for that. All it takes is someone to actually define styles for the layers. What I had planned is layers for several languages, but POI layers are certainly good and possible too. I had asked about that previously but nobody seemed overly interested. All it takes is some changes on the client side of things. Let me quote From my mail on Aug 3: So we now have the "captionless" (rendered by default) and the captionless-lowzoom" (not yet rendered by default) layers on the server. This is how we need to proceed, I guess: 1) Copy over the current "captionless" stylesheets to "captionless-lowzoom" in osmarender and include an captionless-lowzoom layer in the t...@h client config. I have done that now in the trunk version of the t...@h client, so we should be rolling out that to the current "vizag" clients soon. dirk or petschge, do you have time to merge in trunk into vizag? It is only changes to layers.conf. 2) Start requesting the captionless-lowzoom layer by default on the server side. I'll do that as soon as the changes are rolled out to clients. 3) Creating "captionless" stylesheets on the basis of the regular stylesheets minus captions that will be rendered on z12-17. This is the base map that can be overlaid (or merged) with captions and stuff. For now I copied the regular default style as captionless layer and we need to delete stuff that is supposed to be outsourced into separate layers. 4) Actually create language caption & POI layers. Someone needs to propose what should be going in there and change the styles. Sebastian
