Been running Windows XP SP3 here with a Sitecom USB Dock (DK01) and had no problems either with crashing or with working at 115,200 baud.

Frys sell a two headed usb 2.0 serial cable.  It just works with Win 7,
and comes with a tiny driver CD for other op systems.
