Hi experts,

I am trying to port an application from Linux to Solairs, it's Time and
Date Setting

Is this something you are trying to do for your own computer, or will it
be something that is included in a widely distributed release?

widely distributed release, and it will be integrated into Nevada

In this case you should read the "Information for vendors" page on www.pool.ntp.org
at the following URL: http://www.pool.ntp.org/vendors.html

So you means use a good timeserver near me, for example in Sun.com network?
When you are deploying something inside sun.com, you should preferably
use a timeserver on the local network.
When it is something sold externally and used by users outside sun.com,
see above (vendors.html).

I want to know if we can use more, if so, where
can I get the list?

You should not attempt to use a list in that case.

Use the names shown in the examples (ending in pool.ntp.org) and
let the program do the DNS lookup to find the list of addresses that
is valid at that time.  Using a fixed list of addresses is not good
because servers may change address or may stop offering the service.
The DNS names 0.pool.ntp.org 1.pool.ntp.org etc will always return
the addresses valid at that moment.
(try typing "host 0.pool.ntp.org" at the command prompt)
I noticed there is a
file named ntp.client, should I set multicastclient 224.0.1.1 into
ntp.conf if there is no any time server I can use.

That is probably not going to work. But you can always try.

I see...

It needs multicast support in the network, which usually is not enabled.

Rob
