That's very bizarre. ntpd shouldn't be using much memory at all; mine 
has been running for months and is using 5 megs. I'm inclined to say 
something else is wrong with your computer, but I could easily be wrong.

How much memory is ntpd using? (Ie: what does "ps xau | grep ntpd" say?)

How much memory does your machine have? (ie: what does "free" say?)
