A better solution would be to package the instruments separately as single files and then load only those files that are necessary for rendering a particular composition. For example, to render a string quartet only the violin, viola, cello, and double bass soundfonts need be present in memory. TiMidity++ easily can handle such a situation and does not require the full package to be loaded. Has anyone packaged the soundfonts from Crisis 3.01 as separate files, or at least groups of files? Perhaps a soundfont editor could be used to extract the individual soundfonts from Crisis 3.01. This would allow a user to select and use only those soudfonts needed for a particular rendering.
