> We tested with 300.000 records. (sale order lines)
sorry but i think this test is useless because sale order line is not a primary class which link to many things, even not in a combo box. so, 300 000 record for how many differents sales and how many partner ? i wish you test for exampl : 4000 partners , each with 100 sales order of ten sale order lines, shaded with a 1000 products/services catalog. And each service is made by one of 2000 employees. In a real study case, we had to add a picture field to store partner logo, product design picture, employees'photo... It is easy to generate this records if you use a EMS PostgresSQL Data Generator/import or Sybse PowerDEsigner (sample set functionnality). With this quantity of record, i think these tasks are very buggy or slow : - list the record - print reports - open a combo box to choose one - make asearch We tested with 4 users. and many tasks (screen open, combo open, workflow forward, print..) requiered more 15 seconds to complete. We even improve Postgres configuration, stop log, stop useless services...desables security... That's our resulst on the 3.4 release with a high performance hardware and network wonfiguration. Of course, we tested (and still use) the 3.4 release but i don't think between the 3.4 and the 4.2 it could be have a x20 factor of speed improvement. Can you say it ? Moreover, we tested the release 4.1, and it's more "loud", specially the client when you have 10 tabs opened... So for all this reason, i advice a very high and recent hardware. So that's why i can't imagine 15 users on the same time, specialy in the 4 release. Soon (next month), we planned to test again (3.4 release) with new generation hardware for the server : -bi-cpu 2x2 core2duo xeon 2GHz (2 physical cpu of 2 cores, so 4 core)(old server was a simple xeon 2GHz) -debian etch (previous test was on debian sarge) -3Go of RAM (2 Go last time) -3 HD in SAS (postgres databse will be in raid0+1 on reserved hard disk drive) So, with this configuration, we hope having a x4 factor of speed improvement on our previous test. let's hope with us ! ------------------------ J.
