the stock model of OpenERP is a double entry system. Items don't appear or dissapear: they move from one location to another.
The location Default Production is not (should not be) a warehouse. It's a fictional location from/to where production moves have to be balanced. It's something similar to the "Inventory Loss" location: it's a place where everything that is missing goes and from where everything that magically appears on your locations comes from.
