IMHO Luc Maurer suggested to use journals for opening, closing and adjusting when we discussed this issue.
and I tend to agree * OpenERP periods have start end end dates and are only suitable to represent month or quarters, but not "content" * Journals represent content ** Opening ** Closing ** Adjusting *** years end - (I have seen more than ONE period of adjusting) *** Mergers & splits - journals seem to be an ideal tool to integrate financial data mergers and to isolate postings for splitting - here in Austria it is common and legal to merge and split companies up to 9 month backwards - and for comparison it is wise to adjust data on a period level. it's just a matter of selecting all or only selected journal (types ?) for reporting purpose. -------------------- m2f -------------------- -- http://www.openerp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=28560#28560 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ Tinyerp-users mailing list http://tiny.be/mailman/listinfo/tinyerp-users
