there can always be situation when core functionality gets freezed for public 
releases, let's call it "Lite" versions and all the advanced stuff is available 
only for customers (Pro version), yes they will be Open Source (Source is open 
but not the distribution method), as this is with the shared funding projects 
and migration. They are even under GPL, but the customers who buys them are 
required not to redistribute them.

This method of distribution is called Trial or Demo, not the GPL.
