I think you've got your question answered, but just in case...

mica2 & mica2dot: The radios are the same; the radio stacks are the same. If
you aren't getting your mica2 and mica2dots talking with the setup you
discussed, try simplifying the environment a bit. Try loading
CntToRfmAndLeds on one and RfmToLeds on the other. Start the RfmToLeds
node -- it should do nothing -- turn on the CntToRfmAndLeds and they should
both begin blinking. Oh -- actually the mica2dot only has the one led but it
blinks as you'd expect it to.

Neither mica2 or mica2dot can talk to micas. Different radio chip
altogether.
