Dear Michael, Stephan, Michael, and Michael,

CC: To TIPS

Thank you so much for your replies about the questioning that does (or should) take place in the conservation evaluation of children.  This morning I read each of your replies to my class and we not only discussed the questioning procedure for conservation evaluation; but also the idea that we cannot trust that we are always getting precise information from teachers, textbooks, or even some major publications.  The students were fascinated listening to what you had to say about conservation, by your individual displays of character, and by the realization of the speed and quality of the network we members of TIPS have with one another.  I think sharing this aspect of our profession, while sharing a clearer understanding of conservation, was a super lesson.  I was pleased with the alertness and eye contact I saw coming from the students sitting out there in the classroom audience.  It is a technique I plan to use again and again and I will encourage others to do the same.

Thank you once again, Laura
