What kind of stuff is this? I know that often all the people who LOST the event did that as well, but I also know that there is research that compares pre visualization to post visualization performance, and that when measured against their own ability, the visualizer does better post visualization. Heck, I can visualize all I want to to improve my golf game, but if I go up against Tiger Woods (who has said on numerous occasions that he uses visualization to improve his game will whup my butt any time we played together. He's just better than me. I can (and have) improved my game with visualization, and have worked with high school and college athletes using the method.

I do not know whether visualization does any of the things claimed for it by sport psychologists, though I must admit to some scepticism. Whenever I hear the winner of some event talk about how important vizualization was to his or her performance, I can't help but think "Yeah, but all the people who LOST the event did that as well."
