There are probelms all over this piece, as far as I can tell - most troubling is that the writer boards in Providence and would have no knowledge whether or not the Detroit embarking passengers would have had their passports or luggage checked -that occurs so much earlier in the process. Plus, what about, as we try to teach our students, searching for alternative reasons for the conduct of the passengers? (I'm thinking praying, for one...)
