It is difficult to procedurally arrange a backward UCS (toxin) CS
(flavor)since in many instances the affect of the toxin takes 2-3 hours.

My understanding is that that kind of backward conditioning usually
produces an inhibitory response although there may be some exceptions to
that.

Yes, I agree, but isn't it true that it isn't an absolute requirement
that the CS occurs before the US, it's just that conditioning proceeds
more slowly when that requirement isn't met?
