Have you looked at the Online Psych Lab (http://opl.apa.org)?

In the green menu bar click 'studies' then in the top right corner, click 'read
about studies.' The gender perception study is a possibility for you, but by
no means the only one. This study shows participants parts of faces then asks
the participant to guess if the face is male or female, then asks for a
confidence rating. For your purpose, you can ask your students if there's a
correlation between the accuracy and the confidence.

To get the data, in the green menu bar click 'data.' Choose your format,
select the study you want, in this case, gender perception. Then select the
classes you want. Press the CTRL key to select them individually. Then click
'download data.'

Of course you can have your own class participate. Start in the green menu bar
by clicking 'register.' This will generate a class ID for you. Students will
need this ID when they participate in studies. (They'll also be able to look up
their class ID number on the site if they forget it.)

Tell your students which study (under 'studies') you'd like them to do. The
website will walk them through it. Then you can download the data for just
your class by going to 'data' and choosing your class. Or if you'd like
additional data points, you can add more classes.

While you're on the site, also check out the simulations and demos under
'resources.' These have been donated to OPL, so they are on the OPL server.
Like the OPL studies, these are not links to external sites.

Subject: [tips] Online Psyc-Related DataBases

I am looking for online data bases that contain psychological-related
variables that students could use to explore possible correlations
among various variables. This is for a research methods/stats course
and ideally it would contain a large collection of potential variables
where students could select 2 variables, download the data and do a
correlational analysis.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Best wishes,

Bill
