A few years ago I remember seeing a very funny article in which research phrases were translated into what the author was really saying. The only example that comes to mind (and barely) was something like: the article said, "The research equipment was utilized due to its accuracy..." and the translation was something like, "The guy down the hall happened to have the equipment available".
