This is not exactly what Mike had in mind but follows the idea of evaluating competency in the field.
We have been using the Area Concentration Achievement Test(ACAT), developed at Austin Peay State Univ, as an index of basic psychology knowledge with our graduate students. This practice came about after faculty discussions on what should be expected of someone who receives a degree in psychology. The discussion led to the creation of a mini pro-sem sequence and the ACAT as an indicator of successful instruction.
