Don't we recommend using the equivalent of a teaser ad as a teaching
tip? As when we end a class by posing an interesting question that will
be addressed in the upcoming reading and discussed in the next class
session. 

Of course, if we don't deliver, we've violated one of Grice's
conventions. I'm still mad at an undergrad prof who promised that in the
next class he would show us how our understanding of a word could be
fundamentally altered (or something like that) - and then never
mentioned it again.
